In Arezzo, the apse of Chiesa di San Francesca has one of his biggest fresco’s, the Leggenda della vera Croce (Legend of the True Cross). This depicts, in 10 episodes, the story of the cross on which Christ died. In the Cathedral, there is a fresco of Maddalena (Mary Magdalene)

To the northeast of Arezzo, there are the towns of Monterchi and Sansepolcro, which reveal other treasures by Piero della Francesca. In Monterchi, you can visit his Madonna del Parto, (Pregnant Madonna) which is considered a key piece of 15th century Italian art, while at the Museo Civico in Sansepolcro, there are many works such as the Resurrection and the Madonna della Misericordia polyptych, as well as paintings by Luca Signorelli and Santi di Tito.
